You’ve likely heard about “apprenticeships”, but you might not be exactly sure what they are.  Here goes.

Apprenticeships combine paid, structured on-the-job training with classroom instruction. You need to apply like any other job, but the competition can be fierce so you need to be on your game if you want to be considered for one. But first you need to find one.  Start with companies, employers, industry associations, labor groups and unions. Bhlue also lists lots of them listed by state and industry, so make sure you check out our Career Resources page to see what you can come up with.  You can also get started here to find careers that promote apprenticeship opportunities as the way to get in the door.
